Preparing for your Application
Find the one
Start your journey by searching for open roles and finding the jobs that best match your qualifications.
You can search by location, job category, keyword, etc.
Gather the essentials
Items needed for this process:

Submit your application
You’ve searched, prepped, and are ready to submit your app. Once you click submit, check your email for confirmation and follow any instructions you receive for the next steps.
Step 2
Preparing for your Vervoe Skills Assessment
We want to make sure candidates have the chance to show they will be successful at Lumen, not just tell us with a resume or cover letter. If you apply to a role that requires a Vervoe assessment, you’ll have the opportunity to show us the skills that are essential for that job.
Technology
Use a compatible device and close unnecessary browser tabs and apps.

Internet Connection
Check that your internet connection is stable and strong, and that the audio and webcam on your device are working.
Step 3
P.L.A.N
- Ensure you are in a quiet room where you can focus and are not distracted
- Prepare your own “cheat sheet”
- Research the most commonly asked questions and develop answers that showcase strong, solid experience or results related to the topic
- Review the job description carefully and try to craft answers to potential questions around the skills needed
- Understand who is calling and do a quick LinkedIn search to figure out what their role is at the company
- If your call is with a recruiter, you may receive more basic pre-screening questions
- If your call is with the hiring manager, you may receive more focused, skill and behaviorally based questions
- Ensure you have a basic understanding of the company
- Listen carefully to the questions and ask the interviewer to repeat a question or clarify a question, if needed
- Slow down and take your time to answer the question. If you need to take a moment to think through your answer, take your time
This is a time for us to get to know you more, but also for you to get to know us.
- Prepare questions to ask the interviewer(s) ahead of time
- Jot down any others you think of as you move through the interview process
Connecting to the Interview
- Video conferencing information will be provided by your recruiter prior to the interview.
- Download any applications required and utilize the test features to ensure it is working correctly on your device.
- Identify a well-lit and quiet environment with a professional background (think blank wall or bookshelf) that is free from distraction.
When a Plan Fails
- Make sure you have identified a back-up plan in the event that there are internet connection issues in your current location.
- If using a laptop, mobile phone, or tablet, ensure that the device is fully charged prior to the interview.
Stay Professional
- Dress for a virtual interview the same way you would for an in-person one. We don’t care if you wear slippers, but please be sure to wear pants!
- Monitor your body language throughout the interview. Maintain a professional position, smile, and keep the camera at eye level to maintain focus on the interviewer.
